Price Per Sheet Calculator

For paper towels and toilet paper — the two products whose packaging tries hardest to keep you from doing this math.

A "mega roll" is a marketing term. A sheet is a unit. Enter price and sheet count for two packs below and see which one actually costs less — the answer is regularly not the bigger pack.

Sheet sizes vary a little between brands too. Prices change fast — YMMV.

Pack A

Pack B

The pre-filled example is a classic: the 6-"mega-roll" pack looks like the deal and loses on sheets. Swap in your own numbers.

How the math works

Total sheets = rolls × sheets per roll. Price per sheet = total price ÷ total sheets. That's the whole trick — the reason it feels harder than that is that "double," "mega," and "jumbo" rolls exist precisely so packs can't be compared at a glance. Two packs of "12 rolls" can differ by more than a thousand sheets.

If you want to go full spreadsheet-goblin (respect), compare per square foot instead — sheet dimensions vary by brand. For most shopping trips, per-sheet gets you 95% of the way there.

FAQ

How do I calculate price per sheet?
Divide the total price by total sheets (rolls × sheets per roll). A $24.49 pack of 12 rolls at 200 sheets each is 2,400 sheets — about 1.0¢ per sheet.
Are mega rolls actually cheaper?
Not automatically. Roll-size words describe the roll, not the value. Run the numbers — the plain-looking pack wins more often than you'd think.
Why per sheet and not per roll?
Because a "roll" isn't a standard amount — sheet counts range from ~55 to 300+ per roll. Per-sheet is the honest comparison.
